Match Preview

Manchester United has convincing provisions to step into the 2020/2021 Europa League semifinals. Not surprisingly, the Red Devils are more favored ahead of the quarter-final second leg duel against Granada, at Old Trafford, Friday (16/4/2021) at 12:30 midnight Indian time.

In the first leg at Nuevo Los Carmenes, Spain, which was also their first meeting, MU beat Granada 2-0. Manchester United won through a Marcus Rashford goal and a penalty from Bruno Fernandes.

MU already has a temporary 2-0 aggregate advantage over Granada. Now, instead of serving Granada at Old Trafford, despite losing several players due to suspension or injury, MU is definitely required to complete their job.

MU itself is confident. One of the reasons is the 3-1 win over hosts Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last weekend. In that match, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men grabbed a comeback win thanks to goals from Fred, Mason Greenwood, and Edinson Cavani.

However, MU should not just underestimate Granada. They have just ended a streak of four defeats in all competitions by beating hosts Real Valladolid 2-1 in La Liga through goals from Quini and Jorge Molina.

Granada certainly hasn't given up. However, it must be admitted that Manchester United are in a more favorable position. Maybe only disaster can thwart MU's move to the semifinals, where they will face either Ajax Amsterdam or AS Roma.
