Match Preview

League Second Place Real Madrid will play away against number 13, Cadiz in the 31st week of La Liga 2020/21, Thursday (22/4/2021). Madrid must not repeat the disappointing performances from the previous match.

Last weekend, Real Madrid drew 0-0 at home to Getafe. Zinedine Zidane's troops actually deserved to lose. However, they were still able to secure a point thanks to six saves made by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The match against Getafe itself is matchday 33, which should be held on April 28, 2021. However, the schedule was pushed forward because it coincided with the semifinals of the Champions League and Europa League.

The draw against Getafe left Real Madrid (67) three points behind leaders Atletico Madrid (70). Madrid is two points ahead of Barcelona (65) and three points over Sevilla (64), but Barcelona is yet to play their match because last weekend featured in the Copa del Rey final.

With very tight competition at the top, especially near the end of the season like now, losing points can be fatal. Madrid certainly doesn't want to regret it because of a disappointing game and another failure to win.

At the first meeting of the season, on week 6, Cadiz won a surprise 1-0 win at the reigning champions. The single goal decisive for Cadiz's victory was scored by Anthony Lozano in the 16th minute.  Los Blancos of course wants to repay him at home to the opponent.
