Match Preview

Manchester City will host PSG in the 2nd leg of the 2020/21 Champions League semi-final, Wednesday (5/5/2021). The city is in a more favorable position for this decisive duel at the Etihad Stadium.

The city has won the first leg in Paris with a score of 2-1. PSG took the lead through Marquinhos 'goal in the 15th minute, but Josep Guardiola's men were able to turn things around with goals from Kevin De Bruyne in 64 minutes and Riyad Mahrez in 71 minutes. PSG also lost Idrissa Gueye who was red-carded on 77'.

PSG cannot be strengthened by the Senegalese defensive midfielder in the second leg. However, what is most worrying is the condition of the goal machine Kylian Mbappe. The young French striker has suffered an injury and is doubtful for the Etihad Stadium.

Even so, PSG is still dangerous. The team made by Mauricio Pochettino still has players like Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Mauro Icardi.

In addition, PSG has always won in its last three away matches in the competition. The three away wins are 3-1 over Manchester United in the group phase, 4-1 against Barcelona, and 3-2 over Bayern Munich in the knockout phase.

In essence, City will have to fight hard if they don't want to waste the advantage they have got from the first leg.

City themselves are in convincing form. They have recorded four consecutive wins in all competitions. Last weekend, City beat host Crystal Palace 2-0 through goals from Sergio Aguero and Ferran Torres.

The city is on the brink of winning the Premier League. However, their championship party was already delayed. After City beat Palace, they were actually just waiting for the results of the Manchester United vs Liverpool match. If United loses, City will win with four games remaining, and that can clearly be a tremendous injection of morale ahead of the decisive duel against PSG. Only, unfortunately, the riots caused the duel at Old Trafford to be postponed.

The city should hope that the delayed championship party is not a bad sign for them.
