Match Preview

Barcelona will be looking to bounce back from their shock midweek defeat against Granada as they continue their La Liga title fight with an away match against Valencia on Monday (3/5) IST.

Ronald Koeman's men missed a chance to climb to the top of the table with their defeat against Granada and remain in third place ahead of a trip to Mestalla, while inconsistent Valencia occupies 14th place in the standings.

Valencia went on to go five league games without a win when they drew 1-1 at home to Alaves last weekend, and there is no doubt that the 2020/2021 season has been a huge disappointment for the club.

Indeed, their record of eight wins, 12 draws and 13 defeats from 33 games have seen them drop to 14th place in the league standings, around 34 points off Champions League places.

The recklessness of the backline allowed Barcelona's chance to rise to the top of the table and lead the title race in the final weeks of the season again undermined by defensive errors.

Lionel Messi actually had time to bring the Catalan giants 1-0 up in the first half with a goal in the 23rd minute, but Oscar Mingueza and Gerard Pique's mistakes allowed Darwin Machis and Jorge Molina Vidal to score two goals in the second half to bring Granada to come back and win 1. -2 at the Camp Nou.

As a result, Ronald Koeman's side remains third going into the ensuing streak, level on points with second-placed Real Madrid, while they are two points behind leaders Atletico Madrid.
