Match Preview

Arsenal center-back Pablo Mari admitted that the match against Villarreal in the semi-finals of the Europa League will be a special match for him. The first leg will be played at the Estadio de la Ceramica Stadium on Friday midnight Indian time, 30 April 2021.

The 27-year-old player grew up in the region near Valencia. At that time, he was very interested in his local team's competition with a club near the beach, Villarreal.

Now, the Spanish center-back will take on the Yellow Submarine in the semi-finals of the Europa League. He admits the match will have a special privilege for him and his family.

"Of course, I grew up in Valencia, supporters of Villarreal and Valencia," said Pablo Mari as quoted by the club's official website.

"Of course they are two teams in my city, every time I watch Valencia beat Villarreal, I remember watching a lot of their games and thinking, 'I really want to play for them."

"You grew up with that dream. Now I am in the moment where I will play against them in the semi-finals of the Europa League."

"I am very happy to be here, fighting for Arsenal in the semifinals, and I am very happy. It will be very special for me against Villarreal."

Pablo said that Villarreal was a big club. Club owners, he said, have been doing the right thing over the last few years.

"They took very good decisions for the club, they have a very strong academy and are using a lot of young players very well and you can see them growing the club."

"I am very happy because they did the right thing and you can see them playing in the semi-finals of the Europa League and it shows you that they are doing all the right things."

Arsenal is currently in 10th place in the Premier League with 12 points from the 4th team, having only managed to pick one point from the last two home games. The victory over Villarreal will give them hope to win the Europa League trophy this season.
