Match Preview

Chelsea hosted Arsenal in the Week 36 Premier League match 2020/2021, Thursday (13/5/2021). Chelsea deserves to be favorites to win this London derby at Stamford Bridge.

In their last match, Arsenal beat bottom team West Bromwich Albion with a score of 3-1, and sent the Baggies to the second division.

Mikel Arteta's team managed to vent their disappointment after being defeated by Unai Emery's Villarreal in the Europa League semi-finals by overthrowing West Brom through goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Nicolas Pepe, and Willian.

However, Chelsea appeared much more impressive. After eliminating Real Madrid in the semifinals of the Champions League, Thomas Tuchel's boys won a  2-1 comeback win at the headquarters of leaders Manchester City.

Hakim Ziyech and Marcos Alonso's goals against Manchester City gave Chelsea the three points they needed in their fight to finish in the top four.

At the first meeting in the Premier League this season, in week 15, Chelsea, who was still being handled by Frank Lampard, were beaten 1-3 at Arsenal headquarters. Behind goals from Alexandre Lacazette (penalty), Granit Xhaka, and Bukayo Saka, Chelsea could only narrow the difference in score through Tammy Abraham's goals.

This time, the situation was different. Under Tuchel's tutelage, Chelsea has become much more solid and consistent in all the competitions they are still participating in. The quality of their play is also laudable. Naturally, if the Blues are favorites to beat the Gunners at Stamford Bridge later.
